Not all attorneys are created equally.
It is true that in a big city like New York, there are many more to choose from. Competition amongst them is fierce. But because you have more choice, you naturally have more bad lawyers along with a slightly above average pool of excellent attorneys. Make sense?
Where do you start? Who do you hire for your car accident lawsuit?
My advice would be to interview, at least by phone, as many candidates as you can.
I know, it’s a lot of work. But you cannot afford to leave this to chance. It’s better to do the work on the front end and find a great lawyer that fights for you and gets you every penny you deserve instead of settling for the first attorney you talk to because it’s the path of least resistance. Just imagining going through months of hell working with this person and then getting a lot less than you expected at the end, a lot less than you can live on while you are home unable to work, should be enough motivation to put in the work up front.
